Infectious Diseases
Infectious Diseases also known as Communicable Diseases and Transmissible Diseases are contagious and are transmitted to other organisms by any form of contact. They are caused by germs. A germ is a microorganism that causes Diseases. There are four types of germs. They are Bacteria, Fungi, Viruses and Protozoa.
Bacteria only has one cell. Infectious Bacteria can cause diseases and this occurs because they multiply in the body of an organism and create problems. Chemicals are created and they can harm tissues and make someone very ill.
Fungi includes mushrooms, moulds and yeasts. It can be found in water, air, plants and the body of a human. Fungi sometimes are recreated through spores which an individual can come in contact with by inhaling.
Viruses mutate normal cells in the human body and then more viruses are created because they start to reproduce. The Viruses then destroy and kill the cells in the body and this can make a person seriously sick.
Protozoa are one celled organisms. They are living things that live and eat in other living things such as the human body. Protozoa's are created from contaminated water, food or bug bites.

Examples of Infectious Diseases
Influenza
Influenza is an infectious diseases and is passed on to other people through the carriers droplets by coughing or sneezing. The symptoms of this disease are aching muscles, fever, tiredness, coughing and sneezing. The places in which get effected are the nose, lungs and throat. Malaria
Malaria is a blood disease caused by Anopheles mosquitos. The disease is created by a parasite which is carried and passed on by infected mosquitos which then becomes multiplied in the liver of a human body. The parasites damage the red blood cells. The symptoms of this infectious disease are vomiting, headaches and high fevers. Malaria is a very serious disease and causes 1 to 3 million deaths each year. Ninety percent of these deaths come from Africa and 70 percent of these deaths come from children under the age of five. Malaria is treatable however most of the people being diagnosed with malaria are in Africa where there is a lack of medicines.

Chickenpox
Chicken Pox is an infectious disease caused by a virus called varicella zoster. It is when red spots develop and form all over the body. This causes itchiness. Symptoms of the chicken pox are sneezing and coughing. A few days later rashes will start to form in areas such as the face and chest. It is spread to others through air-borne droplets from sneezing and coughing. Chicken pox is contagious for about one to two days or until the blisters form scabs. Anyone can get chicken pox but the people who are mostly at risk are newborns and pregnant women.
